All,

I am wondering if there are UL regulations/certifications for electrical control panel construction. It seems that it depends on the specific application. For machinery NFPA79E, for building utilities local building codes apply, etc. Is there such a thing as a UL approved custom built control panel?

Regards,

Yes there certainly are standards for UL panels. 652?? or 562?? Not sure somebody will say.

It is actually at UL's site.

How else do you think they can get on the panel gravy train.[hairpull]

UL508A. You get your company 508A listed and then go to one of the main UL offices and take a 2-day course. Once your company/plant is listed and you have an individual in house who has taken the course you can build control panels with a UL label. UL sends inspectors to check what you're doing quarterly I believe.

Or they will come and do the training at your facility for a fee.
