My understanding for your consideration.
1. In Europe, the term "UL listed, UL recognized, UL certified " are NOT used by IEC.
In US , the term "Type tested, Partial type tested ..." are NOT used by ANSI, IEEE, UL, NEMA ....
1.1 They work independently. Their test Report/Certificate are NOT interchangeable.
2. In Europe, the manufacturer "Type test" their new proto-type product (e.g. ACB, MCCB, Control gear system ...) by NRTL to IEC Std. The lab issues the Certificate. With the Certificate, the manufacturer may print the CE marking on their component (e.g. ACB... or Control gear system). The product/system is acceptable/for sales without having to re-Type test, throughout Europe.
2.1 ReType test is Not required throughout the life of the production.
3. In US, the manufacturer submits their new proto-type product (e.g. ACB, MCCB, contactor ...) to UL to be tested to ANSI, IEEE, UL, NEMA ... Std for (UL listing, UL recognize). UL issues the Certificate. With the Certificate, the manufacturer may print the UL marking on their component (e.g. ACB, MCCB, Contactor ...). The product is acceptable/for sales without having to re-test, throughout US and Canada.
3.1 Factory re-inspection during the production.
3.2 UL keeps the Register of products that are "UL Listed or UL Recognized".
