Dear Experts,

If vendor is carrying out intermediate stress relieving, & there is final stress relieving post forming, in that case whether we can exempt that intermediate HT on simulated material test coupon by taking benefit of UCS 85 (i)?

Your question is too vague. You say nothing about the Material and the forming strain. Therefore, only a general answer is possible.

Except for P15E Material (under certain circumstance) Postforming HT will performed in compliance with UCS-79 below the lower transformation temperature. This heat treatment is therefore a thermal treatment that do not austenitizes the material and you cannot take the benefit of UCS 85 (i).

Question: A pressure vessel shell made of P-No. 1, Group 2 carbon steel that has been normalized by the mill is used to construct a welded pressure vessel subjected to postweld heat treatment in compliance with the rules of UCS-56 during fabrication. Are the additional requirements for mechanical property testing prescribed by UG-85 and UCS-85 applicable to this material?
