Anybody has practiced and designed platforms (CEMs Platform) for tall industrial stacks can tell me whats typical live load to design those platforms?
This is for an old smokestack that was designed (the platform) 1992 in US and I am trying to learn what live load it was designed for?
Any industry standard number for these platforms?

Thank you,
Skj

ASME STS-1-2011 shows a grating design load of 100 psf for "work platforms". Not sure if that's in older versions or not, so there's no guarantee that older stacks used that number, but that would be one place to research.

I would default to "Walkways and Elevated Platforms" in ASCE 7 at 60 psf unless I know something serious is going on up there.
