How do you find out which kind of shell opening you require(RTR,LTR or S-N)?

The selection of nozzle detail, i.e. RTR, LTR, or S-N, can be depended on your design once complied with the Code requirements.

I didn't get the exact understanding about these openings? Are they related to the reinforcement ?

Based on specified nozzle height and required reinforcing.

You use whichever one works with the piping and/or operational requirements of the owner and meets the weld spacing and reinforcing requirements of API 650. If more than one style meets all requirements, choose the one that will have the lowest lifecycle cost.
