How does one go about analyzing a two-way slab with drop panels if you want to check the load capacity? Preferably with hand calculations and without the aid of programs. Existing conditions are known. Thank you!

The tried and true strip method is probably your best bet.

Equivalent Frame Method solved using the moment distribution method with non-prismatic members. Older CSI Handbooks have tables for the fixed end moment and distribution factors for standard configurations including the small rigid regions in the slab-column joint.

Hello, another question for y'all.
If my prelim shear check does not go well, as in Vf >> Vr, is it fine to reassess my effective depth until Vr>Vf? Or is there another way around it?
I think my effective depth will have to be a ridiculous number. Reminder that this is a drop slab. Thank you!
