Hi can any one give me some details regarding what is method 3 and method 2 of designing two way slabs. I searched on internet but not able to get any useful thing.

There's only two methods I'm aware of, Equivalent Frame and Direct Design. They're usually not given number designators.
Get a copy of Notes on ACI 318 from the PCA. It works out examples for almost everything in the ACI code.

I would guess that you are referring to Method 2 and Method 3 in the '63 code (my personal favorite!)

It is designing for moments in a two way slab by using coefficients listed for column strips and mid strips for each direction with different edge conditions.

hi jike,

i am referring to the same methods, can you tell me where i can get more details on the methods. I am not able to get ACI 318-63 here (I am Located in South Korea) and in the books which are available with me the methods are not dealt.

I would suggest checking eBay, Amazon or other on line book sellers for a good, used, inexpensive copy.

Another book "Reinforced Concrete Fundamentals" 2nd Edition by Phil Ferguson has the code and tables in the back of the book.

Arthur A. Nilson's concrete textbook, Design of Concrete Structures, has some nice charts for two way slabs, using the ratio of the sides and the slab end conditions as the entering arguments.
