Hi All

I am a legitimate owner of V20 but its many years since I stopped my updates. I am trying to get the tutorials within V20 to run again. Heres the situation.....

I launch the tutorial and the model shows up but the instruction window to read and execute the NEXT steps is not popping up

I will call Siemens after the new year to see if they will take a call but I am not sure they will give me answer since its been years since I stopped buying updates.

Anyone know how to get the tutiorial window to open?

Thanks
JaKay

I have every box from V18 thru V20 and I have no Standard part document...I cant open your link as I have no webkey anymore...

The file location OPTION does not even show a SAC as you noted....

Yes I opened a .par (new) but no SAC indicated in file locations

Well as you saw in the screen shot there is no Standard SAC file called out in the file locations window

Guess I am now in a position to re-install everything.....

The trick was not lauching the .par but launching .asm since the parts library is not applicable at the part level...Standard parts now back...

Back to the tutorial...the files are there in the tutorial folder (.chm)...I can launch them by double clicking and apparenty needs IE (they are compiled html files) to read them but for some reason IE not getting launched to read these files for the tutorial pane. IE is the default browser.

Thanks for that input....if only I understood that stuff in the kb. It seems to be based on web based issues and I wouldn't think Solid Edge, now I can be way off here, is only using IE as a viewer/GUI and all these path issues seem odd to be the issue. I don't know the connection how IE gets launched (neither did the folks at Siemens tech support) but I'd assume via the .chm extension. Maybe I need to look at what is launched vs the extension setup...maybe? I'll check in the morning.

What operating system are you using?

Trying to get the V19 tutorials to run on Windows 7 64bit machines (not supported) was tricky.

We ended up having to replace a dll - HHActiveX.dll. This is the instructions:

******************************************************************************
We discovered one minor, but important, addendum to the procedure below to get the SolidEdge tutorials working:
When you open up the command prompt window you need to do this as administrator by typing “cmd” in the start box, but don’t hit enter. Right-click on the “cmd” that will appear under programs and select “Run as administrator”.
When you now do the regsvr32 command it will actually work.

• Copy this file somewhere onto your PC, for example in the folder C:\HHactiveX\64bit
• Open a command window by typing cmd in the start
• Unregister the existing hhactivex.dll (not sure if this is needed) by regsvr32 –u hhactivex.dll
• Register the 64 bit version by: regsvr32 c:\hhactiveX\64bit\hhactivex.dll
******************************************************************************

I am running XP. The tutorial files (.chm) launch when double clicked in the folder but they fail to launch .. That's the total issue.

I will await your response

Thanks
