I'm trying to create a roll cage/space frame. I've already spent way to much time being unsuccessful.

Could someone please describe the process of intersecting two protrusions. The end result I'm looking for will have individual files for each tube, along with the actual fishmouth cut on the end necessary.

So far, I've setup a skeleton frame, basically a traingle upside down, inside of a larger triangle, so I end up with 3 points of contact.

Then, I create a new part, and create a protrusion for one of the triangles, selecting one triangle, No Inn Fcs, then create a circular section

Then, the same for other triangle.

At this point, I have 2 solid tube triangles that intrude into one another.

then I create a new part, ->insert ->shared data ->copy geometry. selecting all surfaces of one of the triangles. and then I solidify.

repeat.

Now, I can't intersect. I know i'm missing something, and I've spent a good amount of time on google and every other site I can think of seaching. I just don't know what I should be searching, or when I find it, I don't know it.

Please help

top down design is the construction method to use for this project. Its hard to elaborate online like this....

dewme5,

Is it possible to post a pic?

its about time i created another set of youtube vids. I guess I could create a bicycle using Pro/E and Top down design so the tube lengths are set up for creating drawings.

Might be wed before I start it.

That would be awesome!

We build a lot of tubular assemblies with intersecting channels, angles, tubes etc... We have been using EFX 5.0 and LOVE it. Makes frame generating extremely easy. It is a WF module.

The purpose behind this project is for my personal benefit, so I couldn't ask the company to pay for the EFX module. Which unfortunately, leaves it to me doing it the long way.

I made this youtube video to illustrate the tubeframe structure technique.

Thank you design-engine. That is exactly what I was hoping for.
