Can anyone tell me if there is a way to truncate a value in Solidworks?

Thanks,

John

In the drawing format? Or in the model? I'm thinking that you might mean the drawing, in that case - you click on the dimension to be truncated, and a menu with significant figures shows up. To globally truncate, in the model you go to Tools|Options| - then various options appear for drawing units and 'modeled' values.

Look up equations, operators and constants in the Help files of your version of SW.

I need to truncate a calculation in the model. I have looked in the SW help and they do not have a truncation function available.

I am trying to set up an equation to calculate the number or holes needed in a pattern. Depending on the length of your stock, and the hole spacing, a calculation generally will give you some amount of decimal points left over.

I need to be able to take the number of holes calculation (example answer: 10.6435) and truncate the decimal places off of the answer to do further calcuations.

My goal is to calculate the number of holes needed in a part. Then take the number of holes and calculate how much material I have left over, divide that in half and center the hole pattern on the stock.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

John

Use the int function. It will cut off the decimal portion.

That is exactly what I needed for this situation.

Thanks for your help.
