Trimmers around a wall opening

Dear structural engineers,

I have been asked to find PFC sections that will be suitable to construct as trimmers around several openings in a reinforced concrete wall that is attached to a steel frame - and I really have no idea where to even begin. It was suggested that I use Tekla Tedds to help me out.

The person who asked me is off on leave and I only started working from home as a graduate 2 weeks ago so don't know a single other person in the company who I could ask! Please help me!

Whats a PFC? Whats a trimmer?

PFC is a parallel flange channel - maybe you know it as a C-section?
And I believe a trimmer is the beam that carries the load around an opening in a slab or wall

Usually when a steel frame (trimmer)is provided around an opening in concrete, its purpose is to provide a weldable surface (like for attaching door jambs to). In cases like that, the load is usually pretty modest, and the channel size is dictated by the wall thickness. If the wall has not been constructed yet, the steel trimmers can be placed in formwork and provided with headed studs anchored into the concrete. If the steel trimmer is being installed after the concrete has been poured, it would need to be attached with post installed anchors.

A PFC is not simply a C-Channel. It is far, far better...

The PFC is to the C-Channel as a W-Section is to a Standard Beam.

IE: The Grey Universal Rolling Mill makes the difference. The PFC is as if you cut off half of the flanges from a full W-Section.
