Hi,

I need some further clarification on thread794-436068

There's an ASME guide for pressure vessels transportation and there's a separate requirement set by the FMCSA for securing cargo and equipment.
Does the FMCSA guide have a safety factor built into the recommendation and are there SAE/DOT research reports to verify the statements below?

FMCSA said:
FMCSA requires that cargo securement systems be capable of withstanding the forces associated with following three deceleration/accelerations, applied separately:

0.8 g deceleration in the forward direction;
0.5 g acceleration in the rearward direction; and
0.5 g acceleration in a lateral direction.

Thank you.
