I am looking for a general rule of thumb for estimating the interface size of two products (i.e. naptha and butane).

rlrChemE:

Please explain what "interface" you are talking about? Naphtha and butane liquids and are mutually soluble and they have no "interface".

After you do the calculations, you will need a real time system to perform the cut. Densitometers are typically used. You can have some naptha in the butane and some butane in the naptha, you might not even need to slop some of the mix. that is MIGHT NOT.
