My question is related to off-road machines. Why do transmission oil cooler, as a part of cooling package (engine water cooler, charge air cooler) is always located at the bottom of the cooling package? Is heat exchange at the bottom more efficient? In some article (unfortunately I can't find it) there was something about that this way it's more efficient (or economic? Can't remember).

Since the trans lines are low in the vehicle it makes sense to keep the cooler low to minimize the run of the lines.
A lot of this is simply packaging efficiency.
