Greetings,

I'm looking for the wire particulars for a wire that was used on the old PRR.
Anaconda, 250,000 CM, 0.731 in., 0.803 LB/FT, No. 415 Spiral I Beam. I'm looking for the Modulus of Elasticity and Coeff. of Thermal Expansion.
Thank you in advance for your help.

Cheers!

For a power cable conductor-Insulation-jacket assemby, the conductor is the dominant factor on the cable Linear Temperature Coefficients ( α ):

a) Copper: 17x10-6(m/moC) (17 μm/moC)
b) Aluminum: 23x10-6 (m/moC) (23 μm/moC)

Please clarify the type of insulation is PRR.

Not sure it will be easy to get the original catalog of Anaconda since this is one of the oldest cable manufacturers established in the 1920s sold to BICC, General Cable and know part of the Prysmian (former Pirelli cable).

Below is one of recent cable General Cable catalog with the Anaconda brand for mining cable

PRR = Pennsylvania Railroad.

Try the tables at the back of Anderson’s Analysis of Faulted Power Systems.
