If you're not aware, many of the Ford Transmissions have a shuddering issue. The best way to describe the shudder is like the transmission is trying to locate the best gear depending on the situation. often this shuddering in conjunction with low RPM's can or could cause stalling issues.. I've had one Ford tech tell me that this is a known issue and Ford refuses to make any corrections other than several the van ever 100K miles.

2 years ago, I drained the motorcraft fluid as I felt this was not one of the best fluids one can or should use in the transmission. I replaced it with the BG products ATF and it seem to work fine after about 1 year. Then I learn about lubegurd shudder fix.. this fluid is added to the transmission at the time of service and is suppose to help with the shuddering issue. I found that it didn't help at all.. but then again it could have been the BG products fluid not allowing full coverage of the lubegurd fluid.

2 weeks ago I found out about the Valvoline Dexron VI/Mercon LV Full Synthetic Automatic Transmission Fluid and wanted to give this a try. just to be on the safe side, I also added the lubegurd shudder fix. after a few weeks of driving I can tell a small amount if the shudder has disappeared but there's still some slight hard shifting going. Like anything else with the van, I',m willing to try something once or twice.. but this time and as long as I'm able to get the fluid changed ever 20k-30k this trnas should last for a long time.

So to any of those looking for a better solution to the current fluid you're adding to your transmission.. try this Valvoline Dexron VI/Mercon LV Full Synthetic Automatic Transmission Fluid in your car. I'm 98% sure this stuff is way better than anything else I've tried on the van.

OP
Look at after market product to replace the valve body, eg next general, research valve body issues on all newer transmissions. HtH
