Transfering results from Femap to Patran 1

Hi All,

Currently working on a large model with a section modeled and meshed by another company. I have used this section of the model to update our mesh and run the analysis. i would like to send the mesh of their model back to them so that they may review it.

Problem is that we are using Femap v10 and they are using Patran 2009r1. Is there anyway that I export the model with results included. The Femap Neutral is not working as it is causing errors when they go to import the file.

You can supply them with the *.bdf file (containing mesh, materials and property) and the result file in *.op2 format.

In patran they can import the *.bdf to load the model and then import the .op2 for the results.

The problem with doing it that way is that our results file is 17 GB for the entire model. I just want to send them the section of the model that they are responsible for, with the results for only that part. They really need to be connected in the model as our assembly plays a major role on the loading of their component.

I am definitely getting the feeling that it is not possible to transfer the results to them.

I think that you could run again in Nastran asking the solution only for a set of elements of interest.
In this way your .op2 file will be much smaller.

from Nastran QRG:
"SET 1 consists of elements 1, 5, 10, 11, 13, 14, 15, 20, 22, 24, and 26.
SET 1=INCLUDE 1, 5, 10 THRU 15 EXCEPT 12, INCLUDE 20 THRU 26 BY 2"

and ask Stress or whatever only for defined SET:
STRESS=1

Be aware that You can't in the same run ask also for the full solution !
