Hi,
I am doing a design project on contamination from tracion maintenace depots. Does anyone know what activities are carried out at these depots and what contamination occurs.

Cheers

I'm not familiar with the term "traction maint depot" but have to assume you are talking about traction on roadways?

In this case, traction on the roadway is restored by spreading sand, salt or other material on snow or ice covered surfaces. Obviously, pollution occurs due to salt or other chemicals entering the water course. Also, trucks and graders frequenting these sites will leak fluids such as oil, anti-freeze, gasoline or diesel fuel etc. - causing more pollutants.
