Can you curve a torsion bar spring assuming it to be 15cm
long by 8mm dia, what would be the maximum safe curvature.
And how would this affect the spring rate.

How is it restrained? What do you mean by safe? Do you care if it operates partly in bending?

Automotive stabiliser bars are often bent in weird and wonderful ways, so they act in amixture of torsion and bending. We use finite element models to predict their stiffness, hand calcs won't do.
