I have been unable to find a rule of thumb(standard) for torquing stands/adapters using a star pattern or any other pattern. Is there a percentage or amount of the total torque that should be applied on each pass? Does such a standard exist?
A rule of thumb that is used for flanged gasketed joints (piping, heat exchangers, etc.) is to take the torque up in 3 roughly equal increments. Using star pattern, torque all to ~30%, then to ~60%, then to 100% of desired torque.
