Torque Calculation for Tapered Bolts?

My past experience with removing tapered bolts from a coupling flange was that they were torqued so tightly, we destroyed them while attempting removal. Now that new bolts have been fabricated, I am looking for any industry standards or calculations for taper bolt applications...

Can anyone provide any comments or considerations for calculating torque on a tapered bolt?
