top slab transfered moment/shear to walls due to truck load 1

Hi all
I am designing a pump station wet well (8' Dia -pre-cast) and the design live load on top slab is the wheel load of
H-20 truck (16,000 Ib). the top slab is a pre-cast plate connected to the wet well walls by key joint so it can be removed. Is any transfered momonet or shear from the slab should be considered in the wet well walls design. If the slab is 1' above grade , should I consider any lateral force due to truck impact?

A key joint with no reinforcing passing thru the joint will not transfer any appreciable moment to the side walls. I would design the circular slab as edge supported with a 16 kip load plus 30% vertical impact.

Here's how I would try to handle the lateral force, To begin with, I wouldn't know what force to design for, as I've never seen any test results published for this condtion. However, I would assume the resistance to be carried by the wet well acting as a circular ring. You can find formulas for circular rings in Roarke's. Find the force that your wet well can carry (you'll need to assume an effective width of ring), and hopefully, that resistance is so large that you can say it will not fail in that manner.
