Too Much Steam Pipe Slope?

My fellow knowledgeable ones!

Is there such a thing as too much slope on a steam line? I am working on a few lines, one which is superheated (540°F @ 185 pisg) and another that is 185 psig saturated.I realize the norm is approx. 1:100, but what about 1:200.

This suits our pipe elevation better.

Any comments?

Yes, the direction of the flow is downhill!

I meant 1:50, not 1:200. The slope intended is twice that of 1:100.

Usually it is recommended to foresee a slope of NOT LESS than 1:100 in the direction of the steam flow. This ensures the condensate formed is moved towards the drain points, where steam traps are located. Steeper slopes just enhance gravity action and better contribute to drain the pipes.
