Hi
I am situated in South Africa I designed and build my own stepper motors the motors work fine and correct only when I turn the motor by hand without supplying current to it it will step 50 steps per revolution on other motor makes this is 200 steps the magnets came from China already magnetized I believe that stepper manufacturers magnetize the motors only after the motor was assembled,I would like more information on how it is done.I am currently busy with the tooling for a variable speed ac motor it changes speed when changing the brush angle,I copied the motor design from a motor used to test alternators this motor got a normal armature and two brushes the brushes got no wires on them and is both going straight down to earth, the stator got thirteen slots on each side my problem is the original motor is to big for my application I reduced the motor size but kept the original design I don't know how to wind the stator does anyone have knowledge on this type of motors? I want to use this motor for the spindle motor on small cnc machines.
