I'm experimenting with some free software called FreeMind to see whether I can make better to-do lists for myself with it.

Does it have a time tracking/schedule function similar to MindManager?

it has some time/scheduling stuff, but I haven't figured out that part yet.

I used to use Lotus Agenda for that kind of stuff. It worked something wonderful, but they stopped supporting it years ago, and nobody ever produced a replacement for it.

My To Do List has to fit in my shirt pocket. A Spirax No 560 works just fine.

That is until you forget to take it out before the wash, AND if you can still get shirts with a pocket. As I mostly wear polo type shirts now rather than business suite type shirts, that is becoming an issue.

Both points well made. I have lost a few notebooks that way. You can still find knit shirts with a pocket...try the Breakaway and Back Bay brands. I probably have enough old ones to see me out anyway.

I actually resorted to WorkWear outlets. Clothes designed as work wear typically have more pockets and are generally heavier weight but sometimes not so well tailored or as fashionable.

I don't really know you, but I expect you might be conservatively neat and practical rather than the height of fashion.

Getting back to the OP.

When I got married I had a constantly active sound enhanced to do list. Since I got divorced, I have no need nor desire for a to do list. ;-)

How do you get both the Spirax No 560 and a pcoket protector in that shirt pocket? I too am finding fewer and fewer shirts with pockets. Now I just throw the pocket protector full of pens in my brief case!

As I'm using the gmail interface to route all of my emails, I've found google tasks very useful for to-do lists. It lets me send emails with actionable items right into my task list if needed. Works well with cellphone running Android, but I had to poke around at various task manager apps to find one that I liked. I too am a fan of David Allen's methods and am actively trying to better integrate his ideas into my routines. I'm transitioning out of a masters degree and back into work (interviewing, fingers crossed), so there's no time like the present to improve how I get things done

Yesterday wasn't a good day for planning here. Then I saw the humor in that realization. Its a losing battle. Two things they just don't get, noise and clocks. Even railroad ticket sales agents don't understand the difference between a ticket leaving at 2PM or 9PM, "You still get to Madrid today, no ???????.......

The rest of the story ... I was actually trying to learn how somebody "In charge of Planning" in this country goes about performing the basic mechanics of their work here. I told them I liked to see todo lists with, start dates, resources required, end dates, slack times, critical paths, costs for each task, estimated and actual times to complete, then how they all fit together on the monthly time line schedule below. They said, "Well ya. That's a very American way to look at it." I asked them just exactly how they were going to remember to do all those things on my list. They said, "Easy! The people call you again and again to remind you." As I'm sure you can imagine, after I fell back to Earth I ran out of all remaining ammo in less than one Davidian minute. If I ever had to tell anyone a second time to do somthing, I'd just as soon tie them down with wet rawhide straps to an ant nest, pour honey on them and let the ants skin them alive in the sun just before I mentioned it again.

OK, so add "Maximum number of reminder calls allowed = 100? +/-" in the Spanish version of this software and it might sell a few copies, if you can still fit the football scores on the back of the package.
