Does anyone have any information regarding the bond strength between a timber pile and grout/concrete?

kh101,

You may wish to contact the Timber Piling Council.

Since you will need to prebore the rock socket, you could always cut notches into the tip of the timber pile to improve uplift resistance, if needed.

Just curious: why timber piles rather than constructing as a drilled shaft?

Jeff

Thanks Jeff - good lead. The socket is for a relatively small wharf / pier structure with shallow bedrock, which needs some uplift capacity due to lateral loads resisted by batter piles.
