I am looking for a reference on allowable strain on a tie bar and allowable variation between all four bars. I would not think it could be more than a couple .001" but is there a reference. I looked in my machine manual and strain gauge sites, no help. The machine is a nissei 360.

I would call the technical folks at Niessi. They know their machines better than anybody.

This is an interesting question. If you find the answer from a source other than this forum, can you please post it?

hey mauricio,

I called Nissei like Dwight suggested. They faxed me spreadsheet that looked at the issue a little differently than I was. I will scan it tommorow and post it in the plastics.com injeciton forum.

Why not post it here as this is where you were given the very basic tip of contact the manufacturer.

The manufacturere recommended set up procedures for setting the plattens parallel using height guages, but nothing about monitoring them by using strain gages or other means. I guess the original requester used Plastics.com because it was easier to upload the diagram there. Actually it looks pretty easy here but I have never done it.
