Hi All,
I have to design some special connections on Nozzle blind flange on PRESSURE VESSEL under ASME Code sect VIII div.1,
SO I have 2 questions:
1/- Trouught theses connections ( see attached sheme)I have to connect electric wire for heating elements, so I will have a teflon threaded bushing and SS rod to attach the wire ,
how can I calculate these elements.? ( bushing, rod, )and if this design could affect the flange rating.
2/ How can I design and calculate for threaded hole with 1/2" deep sas ( see attched sheme).and if this design could affect the flange rating.

Any information or help will be very appreciated.
Thanks.
Laurent.

401laurent, had a look at UG-39?

Regards,

Mike

Hi SnTMan,thganks for your reply,
UG-39 treate only the ronforcement of opening in flat head,
no thing about the design of threaded hole on flat head( if we consider that a blind flange is like a flat head)
any others idea?

SEE ATTACHED SHEME.
Thanks.

401laurent, regarding your blind, can you not treat each hole as a through hole at its largest diameter, check reinforcement per UG-39?

As for the strength of threads and threaded components, handbook stuff, i.e. Machinerys' Handbook.

Maybe I misunderstand your problem.

Regard

Mike

...Just asking, you're drilling and taping a 600# flange all the way through and expect a TEFLON threaded bushing to "buck" the pressure seen in a 600# system and stay in place!?? …I’d suggest re-thinking that!
