Hi, Please advice how to calculate the thickness of a test blind cut from MS plate.

Thanks,

Mathmas

Do you mean a blind flange or a blank that goes between two flanges?

Dear mathmas,

Always safe to use forged blinds for testing purposes.

"MS Plate" is fairly vague as to the strength of it.

As a minimum I would start with the thickness of a normal blind flange and double it.

But this is really pretty cheapskate - Buy a forged blind instead to B16.48 or 16.47.

And machine in a sealing raised face for the gasket.

Remember - More details = better answers
Also: If you get a response it's polite to respond to it.

ASME B16.48 Line Blanks may give you more information.
