Hello,

I have a 4-bolt unstiffened end plate connection that satisfies all DG-4 requirements except for the thick plate behavior criterion. My understanding is that the criterion to be met is:

Any clarification or suggestion on how to resolve this will be very much appreciated.

thank you.

There are ways to consider prying action in the connection (I think that's covered in DG16). Though I don't believe these types of thin plate end plate connections would be appropriate for SMF or IMF moment connections.

There is also a thin plate procedure in DG 16.

DG 4 and 16 have been replaced by DG 39. Recommend you check it out.

Hello JoshPlumSE, I need to use DG4 for seismic. Thanks

Thicker plates would resolve it, you're probably limited by the supporting flange now. So a flange doubler and stiffeners is your next bet, if you can't upsize columns

Thank you. W18x119 works but that is a big jump from W16x67.
