Hello canwesteng, thicker plate does not work and I have seismic loads and need to use DG4. Thanks. You resolve it with thicker plates, or switch to DG16
Hello JoshPlumSE, I need to use DG4 for seismic. ThanksThere are ways to consider prying action in the connection (I think that's covered in DG16). Though I don't believe these types of thin plate end plate connections would be appropriate for SMF or IMF moment connections.
I have but the requirement is still there. Thank You.There is also a thin plate procedure in DG 16.
DG 4 and 16 have been replaced by DG 39. Recommend you check it out.
Thank you. W18x119 works but that is a big jump from W16x67.Thicker plates would resolve it, you're probably limited by the supporting flange now. So a flange doubler and stiffeners is your next bet, if you can't upsize columns
