Hello to all,
I am currently trying to complete my thesis on Naval Architecture. My subject is thermal stress analysis of a ship with independent tanks. To put simply, there is a storage tank stored inside cargo hold and this tank carries a product with a temperature of 250°C. The tanks stand on supports inside cargo hold, which causes heat transfer through supports. My question is; when the size of the tanks, dT and local constraints are considered, there are large displacements occurring on the tanks. Therefore, initial thermal analysis results become invalid due to change in the location of initial contacts between the tank and supports. Is there any possible iterative way to model this event on ANSYS?
If deformed shape is transferred to the heat transfer module, I may get an realistic temperature distribution. However, if I transfer these results to static structural analysis, thermal displacements would be recalculated due to initial temperature of the system.
My second question is if there is any possible way to obtain weight distribution of the ship as a graph and data (x: long. loc. y: weight of section ) in order to calculate sectional moments and shear forces?
P.s. What I am going to the in the static structural module is to impose hydrostatic loads, cargo loads and end forces and moments in order to check the strength of the vessel.
