I want to do a thermal stress analysis. After getting the temperatures what changes should be made to the model to perform a stress analysis. How should the temperatures be applied as loads to the model? Any help would be highly appreciated.

Thanks

Hi,

If you already know the temperatures in your part then you can perform a static analysis and apply the temperature as predefined field and specify the coefficient of thermal expansion to find thermal stresses.

If you want to determine the temperatures also, you can either do a coupled or sequential thermo-mechanical analysis.

Hi,

You can use the following command under STEP:

*Temperature, op=NEW, file=Name_of_the_ther_an_file.odb, bstep=1, binc=1, estep=2

You can have a look at in the documentation for the meaning of bstep, binc, estep from the keyword reference manual under Temperature.
