A large container is partially filled with water. The rest is occupied by air. For reasons of simplicity we assume a steady heat flux on the top surface (solar load) and a general convection that takes place on all surfaces. I want to model the thermal stratification that will take place within the container. I haven't found anything similar so far. Which analysis system would be more suitable? I tried using CFX (ansys 16) but i keep getting weird temperatures.

if it is just flux and convection load, why not try it in Ansys Thermal? It might give pretty reasonable results. with CFX your initial BCs and parameters have a greater effect on the end results.
