Hi ,

COuld you please let me know how the reuslts from Thermal analsys can be interpreted and how it can be used?.

I am using MSC/Patran and Nastran. After Analysis, I have got good plots, contours, curves etc. But what exactly we get from this plot. Just heat transfer? what we can make out from this apart from this.

Thanks
Nidhin

?? Why did you run the analysis if you didn't know what it was for?

Normally, thermal analysis is intended to determine a specific thermal issue, like
> Thermal stress
> Overheating
> Cooling efficiency

Of course I can. I can do anything. I can do absolutely anything. I'm an expert!
There is a homework forum hosted by engineering.com:

HI,

I was not asking, WHy thermal analysis is done? Please try to interpret what I was asking.

How thermal stresses can be used to interpret the results? In design point of view.
Is it possible to get exactly thermal stress from the analysis? Is there any way to find it out from Temperature gradient?

Hope this time I get proper answer. :-)

No, you have to apply the temperatures to a structural model and get stresses.
