The old version of API 5L required! 1

Hi! Can I get an API 5L standart someway? In our country in institution for standartization LVS (Latvian Standart) they told me, that it had been replaced with API 5, but I need the old version API 5L, and they don't have it! If somebody has it, can you help me please!!!

I checked with IHS (

which is a company that sells electronic versions of standards. There does not appear to be an "API 5" standard; however, there is a current "API Spec 5L". It is titled "Specification for Line Pipe". I don't know if this is what you need, but you could check out the site.

I don’t know if you are working as an engineer involved in pipelines or hydrocarbons; but in case you are, then I advise you to join the API or order the API recommended practices publications in those areas that relate to your type of engineering projects or work. There are few (or no) organizations outside the USA who have as complete a library on pertinent information regarding this expertise as the API. As a professional engineer you may be called from time-to-time to comply with API standards, specifications, or recommended practices as I am. The cost of the publications is one that is passed on to the end consumer or client. I don’t know about Latvia, but this information is protected by copyrights and it is illegal to copy it and pass it on to others. The only legal way to obtain this information is through the API or one of their recognized representatives or distributors.

and click on “Publications”, where you will find information on all the current API publications including an electronic catalog of all their publications that you can download. I have the following “API 5” publications:

There are other API “5Ls” and they are listed in the API catalog. There is no “API 5” to my knowledge. The current API 5L Specification is tagged as the 43rd Edition / March 2004 / Effective Date: October 2004; Product Number: G05L43 / Price: $194.00.

I (and practically all other professional engineers) recognize that the prices for API documents are “stiff”, but there is nothing we can do about it. As I stated above, it is totally illegal to copy this information and pass it on to others for their use.
