It is published monthly in Chemical Engineering Magazine. The most recent full year is 2003, the value is 1123.6. The most recent quarter is 3Q2004, the value is 1194.0.

That's a tall order. M&S for 1926 was 100. By 1998 it was up to 1061.9. I don't know of any listing over the intervening years.

Sorry I don't have the M&S for that date. However I came across a paper that estimators may find interesting. The link is

Table 9 includes M&S values starting in 1926 at 100, but skipping to 1964 at 241. You could interpolate.

The M&S Equipment Cost Index was not published in the Sept 2005 issue of Chemical Engineering. I thought maybe they had ceased to carry it. However it is back in Nov and Dec issues. The latest value, from the Dec 2005 issue, is 1260.90 which is for the third quarter of 2005.
