the diffrance between stailess steel and othe metal

How do we know the diffrance between stainless steel and other metal?
If there is any wet test method for testing?
we have got electrical articals which is the manufecturer claims it's stinless steel. pleas advise any test method.

The best way is to do a chemical analysis for chromium and nickel, either by wet analysis or by spectroscopy. Ferrous Materials containing 13% or more chromium may be said to be "stainless". I hope that you are not really interested in knowing the grade or type. Anyway, please note that for a stainless steel to be "austenitic", it must have a certain percentage of nickel. Common austenitic stainless steels have 18% Cr and 8%Ni.

I agreed,I suggest un PMI (Positive Material Identification) by an spectroscopy as per "Texas Nuclear 9277 model”.

Type 300 series austenitic stainless steels (those containing chromium and nickel) are non magnetic, so a simple magnet can be used to determine whether a steel is an austenitic grade or not.
