Can someone please explain to me how to perform the thermal index test of the winding as per IEC 60172 standard.
(Regarding the number of samples - test cycle and calculations)

The standard itself is pretty clear. If you're trying to do the test yourself, presumably you're interested in making the wire in the first place - or at least proving the wire you have is "good enough".

I strongly suggest acquiring the standard. The most recent edition was released in 2020.

EDIT: Assuming you are a student at a place of higher learning, chances are good the school has the standard in its files or has a school-level access to acquire any necessary standards from the typical consensus standard bodies (IEC, IEEE, ANSI, ASME, etc.)
