I modeled a set of 6" calipers, and in the spirit of over doing it I wanted to try to get the digital display to read the measured value. As it is right now the display is a sketch using the text function. Is tere a way to link the text value to the driven dimenison between the caliiper jaws?

Hide the Dimension and Extension lines of the dimension controlling the gap (measured value), and use it in the display area of the calipers.

Or create two dimensions, one driving and one driven, and use the driven dimension in the display.

It would be easy to link a note to the dimension you want. However, there are two settings you will need to check (and possibly change) for it to look right. In Tools->Options, Document Properties tab, under Annotations Display, make sure that "Always display text at the same size" is un-checked. Then in the System Options tab, under "Display/Selection" make sure "Display Notes flat to screen" is un-checked. You can then stick your note to the "display" of the caliper.

It's not possible to link sketch text to a dimension (or anything else for that matter). It would be possible to use a macro feature to change the text, but that's probably way further than you're interested in going.

Try this in the model -
Create and dimension sketch. Close.
Add blank note.
Open sketch.
Click note to open and then click dimension.
Close note.
Go to your drawing and click Insert, Model Items, Annotations.
Your noted dimension should show. Hide other dimensions.
On my system, I can change my dimension from my drawing and it will update my model.
