I'm looking for literature to help educate myself on the engineering of magnetohydrodynamic systems. I am interested in MHD pumps using liquid metals and/or ionic liquids. Ideally, a reference would give a first cut at the theory, with a strong focus on practical applications such as the above. Topics such as plasmas and solar phenomena are of less immediate interest.

Books, papers, proceedings, are all of interest. Thanks in advance.

willcambridge,

You can perhaps start off with Engineering Magnetohydrodynamics by George W. Sutton and Arthur Sherman. There is a cheap Dover edition available ($27).
Schaum's Theory and Problems of Fluid Dynamics has an introductory chapter on MHD.
