Hello everyone,

I program a CNC router using Acad 13 running CimTech Router Cim to do my nc conversions. My company primarily works w/ wood. I sometimes need to engrave text w/ the CNC router. The way I've always done it is by very time consuming tracing the letters w/ lines and arcs. I cannot use elipses or splines. Does anyone here know where I can download text that is made up entirely of lines and arcs? I would not like to have to pay for them if any way possible. I do all of my drafting using Acad2k. Any feedback on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. [morning]

Have you tried to DXBOUT of AutoCAD?
The DXB file should cause your text to break down into ARCs & LINEs.

Hope that helps.
Sorry in advance if it doesn't work. [sadeyes]

Hi,

Rich, (very) interesting reply, but Arial is difficult, and You don't get arcs, just lines.
I thought about the way "explode text" from ETV1-9. It's ok, but I didn't get arcs also. And Arial converts to edges, not center lines...

GibbsCAM has a single line engraving font (Moorpark). I think you can download it from there website. I used it to create some text for engraving, then imported it into ACAD. It came in as lines and arcs only. Don't know if this font will work in Cimtech, but worth a try!

Thanks for the star EXIT!
I assumed you gave one of them.
Also, you're right about the TXTEXP command! [rednose]

The "True Type Font" issue can be limited by font size.
The larger the font size the more lines are added IN for the fill ....

Hence, if one sets the height to 1/8" or 1/4" the amount of text fill TO BE DELETED can be limited.
Of course, I'm assuming you're reacting to that output.

Later guy ...! [wink]
