Are the following valid tests for welded connections of stainless steel?.....I have been grinding on this for awhile with little result

a. Liquid Penetrant Inspection: ASTM E165.

b. Magnetic Particle Inspection: ASTM E709; performed on root pass and on finished weld. Cracks or zones of incomplete fusion or penetration are not acceptable.

c. Radiographic Inspection: ASTM E94 and ASTM E142; minimum quality level "2-2T".

d. Ultrasonic Inspection: ASTM E164.

thanks for any input...its for a spec I am commenting on

Only a), c) and d) for austenitic stainless steels (base metal or connection weld) joined to themselves or to carbon steel, and all of the above for ferritic and martensitic stainless steels (base metal and connection welds). Now you need to pick one or more depending on your application.
