Greetings!

I'm working with high-strength bolting on a metal building that will be erected in temperatures near 0 degrees C. However, seasonal temperautes can range to near 35 degrees C. Does anyone have any guidance or references regarding the impact of temperature changes on bolt tension? Or is this change in temperature too small to have much impact on the bolt tension. Thanks for the help!

Reference for preload variation due to temperature: VDI 2230 Systematic Calculation of High-Duty Bolted Joints, available from Beuth at:

Temperature variation from 0 [°]C to 35 [°]C won't have much of an effect on metallic structures, especially steels.

Cory
