Dears,
we have many fabric expansion joints installed in the duct pathway of ash handling system (Fossil Fuel Power Plant). There are many holes in most of them but we can not change all joints just because of small holes on it and also due to high cost.
So, we need to close these holes by some means but we need to know the proper procedure and method to do so.
kindly, give me your valuable feedback

You don't mention a typical operating temperature range, but I'll give a possible answer anyway - duct tape?

I'd expect there should be an overlapping steel liner to keep the ash from making contact with the flexible "fabric."

If ash is making contact with the fabric I wonder if the steel liners are worn out, or were oriented the wrong way relative to flow.

What is the pressure inside the ash duct?

What portion of the fabric "accordion/bellows" is perforated? Inner fold, outer fold, straight walls, end connnections, or .

What is the actual material ?

I'm thinking pieces of replacement fabric duct could be cut to make nice form fitting patches, and glued to the outside with Pliobond or something similar, if you don't live in one of the "wrong" states in the USA.

As usual, pictures would make this a whole lot easier, and avoid wasting everybody'd time.

Wild idea I know, but have you considered contacting the joint manufacturer?

Regards,

Mike

The problem with sloppy work is that the supply FAR EXCEEDS the demand
