Teamcenter-NX adding datasets t released parts

I was wondering what I need to do to capture data within Teamcenter against a part that is released. During the Drafting/Design process, our signoff/approval workflow releases the part. We need to capture things such as parasolid, step and machining files and associate them back to the released part. Sort of a chicken and egg situation as we want the data to be generated from the released/final part, but at the point of release, I can no longer add additional datasets to the part.
What solutions/protocol have others used in instances such as this.

Have your release workflow changed that it adds the parts before the release is actual done..
The only possible other way would be as DBA or Privilidged admin.
