I am designing a vertical drum with agitator supported by tangential support lugs. Please provide me handbook reference for the design of tangential support lugs. I believe it cannot be designed through PV Elite. I understand FEA is an option , but if I can do manually it is the best option. Thanks.

Hi, The support lugs are tangential not radial.. If any alternate design methodologies other the FEA please advise.Thanks.

The Pressure Vessel Handbook or the Pressure Vessel Design Manual. Remember all vessels shall be so supported and the supporting members shall be arranged and/or attached to the vessel wall in such a way as to provide for the maximum imposed loadings. This would be at test or at operating whichever has more load (weight).

Please show a dwg or sketch of your intended supports. It is not clear from your description and terms.
