Is there a way to hide tangent edges on certain parts in assembly drawings while showing tangent edges on other parts in the same view? As far as I can tell you can only show/hide tangent edges for an entire view. I would like to show/hide tangent edges on individual parts. Is there a way?

In parts, there is no way to control tangent edges.

But,

If you make a custom template and set the option to remove tangent edges in Drawing views. Then everytime you make a new drawing those edges will not show unless someone changes that option.

I hope that helps,

I've had to sketch lines on the drawing view and make them coincident to the tangent edges then turn the tangent edges off in order to do what your asking.

Your statement is right. If you are looking to make only few edges visible, you can probably make them visible.
Move your cursor around the view, the solidworks dynamically shows edges, right-click and tell 'Show Edges'. You can also change the linetype style. But this is labrourious method.
