We hv a tall chimney of 145 m height having top dia of 2700 mm & angle from base is 65deg c. The chimney is meant for venting gases from thermal power plant. The gases will hv about 3.5%SO3 and are corrosive nature. Pl advise upto what portion the top of the chimney to be lined say about 40to 45 m or so? Pl advise

For acid dew point calculations, check Thread798-97414. It will point you to an acid dew point calculator at . Presumably you want to line the stack from the point where the gas could cool below the acid dew point, and have some kind of drip ring to catch what runs down the wet portion of the stack?

Peter.

Hi
We have a Chimney of 110 meters in hight, wich has been designed for 2 coal units of 135MW, but only one meter in hight is lined (above the floor), in this place a lot of residual ashes are deposited inside.
Bye There.

the stack on our unit is made of corten B. It has been in operation for 3 decades on 4 units burning >4%S coal. There is yet to be a hole that is not man made.
