Tackifiers in CR or NR Rubber Vulcanize Bonding to Steel

We are using a Lord Adhesive to NR and CR rubber to a steel substrate during molding and vulcanization. The raw rubber we have been receiving seems to have less tack than normal. What effect does Tackifiers added to the rubber have on the steel to rubber bond when using an adhesive such as Lord product? Does it have any effect?
